(More customer reviews)When I saw the product listing for this gelskin, I loved the bright colours and the whimsy of the leaf design for an electronic book.
While the real product is easily this bright and fun, unfortunately, it is only half a skin. It is only one piece that covers the back of the Kindle - there is nothing to go over the front. Looking back at the other gelskins, I realize that all of the ones from Gelaskins seem to be the same - so be aware, and don't make my mistake. I saw all their products for IPods and IPhones that had front and back covers, and just assumed this was front and back also. If you really want something to cover both front and back, you will need to look at a different brand. The MyGift line looks good, although I haven't tried it yet.
I was pleased with the ease of application - you just lay it down on the product, lining up one edge, then smooth it over the rest. I wasn't quite happy with how I lined it up the first time - no problem, it just peeled back off and I put it back on.
Once the skin is on, it seems quite secure. The edges follow the curves nicely, and it doesn't look like it will peel off quickly.
The skin seems thick enough to prevent small day-to-day scratches. It probably isn't thick enough to protect it completely in the case of a good whack - but that's not the point of a skin, is it? The feel is like a smooth artifical leather - not slippery like plastic - so it feels good to hold in your hand, and doesn't feel like it will slip out.
Bottom line: fun pattern, easy application, seems good quality cover for the BACK side only of your Kindle.
